Preschool Maintenance Tech
Would you love a job making a difference for children and families? Opportunities await at Kama'aina Kids, one of Hawaii's Top Workplaces!
Preschool Maintenance Technician (Oʻahu)
Full-Time | Monday–Friday (Daytime Hours)
$20–$30/hour DOE | $500 Hiring Bonus
Do you enjoy fixing things, solving everyday problems, and being the hero who can rescue a Lego man from a toilet’s watery depths? Kamaʻāina Kids is looking for a dependable, hands-on Maintenance Technician to help keep our O'ahu preschool campuses safe, welcoming, and running smoothly.

This isn’t a high-pressure, commercial-maintenance job — it’s meaningful work in a nonprofit dedicated to supporting Hawaiʻi’s children and families. Think of it like helping 15 Preschool Directors who all have Honey‑Do lists… but they’re grateful, fun, and won’t actually ask you to clean the garage. (Probably.)
If you like variety, enjoy working independently, and want your skills to make a real difference every day, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Be Doing
A little of everything — because our preschools stay busy!
You’ll travel between sites using a company vehicle to:
Assemble and repair classroom furniture and shelving (flat-pack pros encouraged!)
Fix doors, cabinets, drawers, and locks
Handle minor plumbing fixes — clogs, leaks, and the occasional mystery item in the toilet
Replace light fixtures, bulbs, and ceiling tiles
Do patch painting, small drywall repairs, and general upkeep
Help maintain playgrounds and outdoor spaces
Support Preschool Directors with on-site facility needs
Keep our campuses safe, clean, and child-friendly
This is a generalist role — if you’re handy, resourceful, and enjoy keeping things in good shape, you’ll thrive.
You’re a Great Fit If You Have:
Hands-on experience in basic maintenance or facilities work
Skills in simple plumbing, carpentry, and minor electrical tasks
The ability to troubleshoot, prioritize, and work independently
Strong communication and a dependable work ethic
Comfort working around children and an understanding of safety standards
A clean driving abstract (company vehicle provided)
Experience in childcare centers, schools, or property maintenance is a plus — but not required. HVAC knowledge is a bonus, too.
